Earth Day 2016

I'm looking forward to playing for Earth Day this Saturday.  The weather looks as though it will be a wonderful sunny 70 degrees. What a wonderful way to celebrate the earth and all it has to offer. Yet we must remember to give back to Mother Earth and treat her with kindness and respect. She is the only earth we have.

Hi Everyone
Yes, it's been awhile since my last post. So much has been happening lately.  First up, I'm going to be playing Wednesday with The Native Groove, January 20th , 2016 at The dA Art Gallery in Pomona at 7 p.m. We will have a special guest joining us, The Bass Invaders. Felipe of The Bass Invaders has traveled all around Canada on his bike carrying his bass and amp. This is a don't miss kind of night. Secondly I will be joining forces with Keale in Hawaii for a Music as Medicine retreat February 11-14, 2016. We will be healing through our hearts, ears, breath and body. This will be quite the experience. Thirdly I'll be going back in the studio to work on the new album coming out at the end of the year. It will be something different than the rest, that's for sure. Oh, yes I'll be going back into the studio, didn't I just say that? painting that is.  The brush will be running across canvas, dragging along with it color.

WOW ! I have AWOL on here~ UPDATE!!

Hello everyone! Sorry but I have been AWOL on my blog and so now it's time to catch up~  I have been touring allot this summer and have had some wonderful experiences, like being a finalist for the Indigenous Music Awards for "Best Indigenous Entertainer of the Year" in Canada eh! I have added a wonderful & talented Keyboardist & Drummer Dave Rand & Butch Armstrong to the Native Groove band, which you can hear us next week Nov 13,14,15th in Melbourne Florida's Native Rhythms Festival. I have been accepted to the GRAMMY ballot for the 2016 GRAMMYs for my solo album Red Beaten Path, released by Hen House Studios. So as you can see so much has happened we even did 2 PBS shows in the Grand Canyon Caverns~ for 2 shows airing next year 1) Southwest Stories with Steve Brown & The real Route 66 both airing on KVCR PBS channel 24. So as we head into the 2016 music tour I will be adding dates of where~ when~ we play so stay tuned folks!!!!

The new Steven Rushingwind Signature Flute

  I have the honor of having my own signature Native Flute from one of the best flute makers out there~  Brent Haines from Woodsounds.com It is made with redwood burl, inlayed with turquoise (representing my Opata heritage from the Arizona deserts)) and abalone (representing my Cahuilla heritage from the west coast)  The fetish (bird) has a wave to represent my name Rushingwind~~~~
